WHAT IS KIX START?

KixStart is a not-for-profit organisation principally serving the town of Dorchester and surrounding villages and works in partnership with and is funded by Donations and Sponsorship. Shaun and Sharon Hearn set up Kixstart a Community Interest Company based in Dorchester Dorset in July 2014 in order to give something positive back to their local community of Dorchester.

OUR OBJECTIVES

The objectives of Kixstart are to provide the opportunity for individuals of all ages with disabilities and learning difficulties including vulnerable adults to benefit from active participation in football and related training activities. The aim is to encourage people of all ages and abilities to undertake sporting activity and adopt a healthier lifestyle and foster teamwork.

The objectives will be principally achieved in weekly organised training sessions run by FA-qualified coaches and the entry of at least six teams in the Dorset Ability Counts League and Dorset Positive Mental Attitude League (PMA). The teams will be FA affiliated; operating under the banner of Dorchester Town Football Club, there are now Six male adult teams: two under 16s and two under 12s teams.

The eventual aim is to provide these opportunities on a free-of-charge basis to participants continually.

MORE ABOUT US

KixStart works in partnership with local schools, organisations, clubs, and groups to provide a high-quality safe environment for sporting activity, including working in partnership with Westfield School in Weymouth allowing Coaches from Kix Start and Dorchester Town FC to attend classes at the school to assist and encourage reading for Students that have learning difficulties.

KixStart will endeavour to give every local person, without discriminating against age or ability, the opportunity and confidence to participate in activities different to their current lifestyle – activities that they would not normally have the chance to pursue.
